Leaving this weekend, Jonathan will be spending the week of Thanksgiving in Iceland! Since I just got this new job in Virginia, I won’t be tagging along! However, Jonathan has promised to take plenty of pictures to share with you!
Jonathan has been talking about going to Iceland forever, I’m not exaggerating. Since we met almost three years ago he told me it’s one of his dream destinations. There are so many things to see there, so I’ll list a few things on his itinerary!
1. The Blue Lagoon
Created when superheated seawater flowed out of Svartsengi Geothermal Power Station and collected in the surrounding lava. The Lagoon is famous for its spa services, offering many different massage options or rub downs with scrubs that have ingredients like fine silica, minerals, algae, and salt.
2. Geysir Hot Springs Area
Comprised of 10 to 12 hot-water blowholes, the Geysir Hot Springs area is a popular destination for tourists to see Strokkur, which erupts every few minutes to a height of approximately 50 to 100 feet.
This gigantic waterfall is the first thing you see when walking up the river bank. Legend says a Viking named Pórólfsson hid his hoarded gold in a cave behind the falls!
Jonathan and his family intend to rent a car while they are there so they can road trip around the island. They plan to spend a couple nights on each coast so they can get out of the city and see what else Iceland has to offer.
